Events

The fall seminar is coming up, and will be held in Aikido By the Bay (811 S B St., San Mateo). Here is the schedule: Saturday, November 18, 2023     1330: Arrive at Aikido by the Bay, sign in, and warm up     1400: Bow-in     1410: Zentai     1440: Shikake oji     1530: Bogu     1630: Closing, clean-up     1645: Exam preparation     1700: Shinsa (rank exam) The schedule is not strict, and we may start events early if things run quickly. This will allow us some time for free practice after the exam.

This event will open with a seminar for all NCNF members. There will be a taikai (tournament) consisting of engi (shikake oji) with mixed yudansha/dangai pairs and shiai for dangai (kyu level holders). We will end with a kyu shinsa (exam). The seminar fee is $35 regular and $20 for students.

For those ranked 2-dan or higher: please plan on attending this Zen Nihon Kata seminar. It will be held in the Greenroom of the Danzhause, on the upper floor. There will be a seminar fee of $20. Available time at the dance center is limited, so please bring water and a snack or bento for yourself.

Consider wearing thin-soled footwear and sunscreen, and bring some water to drink. Lunch will be ordered in; orders will be taken prior to 10. We are planning to meet for supper afterwards at Azuma, and all NCNF members are invited to attend.

You are encouraged to participate in our annual event. Please be prepared to spend the day outside in partial sun, and wear footwear sufficient to protect your feet.
